Problem:

A new-build care home in Manchester was experiencing issues with low water pressure and flow.

With outlets located up to 30m away horizontally, the existing system struggled to deliver consistent pressure and flow across the building, particularly during peak usage times when multiple bathrooms and taps were in use.

The challenge wasn’t related to building height, as the care home spans just two floors. Instead, it was the length of the pipe runs that made a powerful and reliable pressure-boosting solution essential.

Solution: 

Following a consultation with the Salamander Pumps’ technical team, a TankBoost 450L 5.0 bar system was chosen as the solution to deliver strong, consistent water pressure throughout the care home.

The 5.0 bar variant of TankBoost is designed to meet the requirements of larger properties with long pipe runs where higher pressure is needed, delivering water pressure and flow up to 5.0 bar and 120 L/min.

The 450L model and additional storage tank was selected due to the high water consumption of the care home, where multiple showers, taps and baths will be used simultaneously.

To ensure the water demands across the care home’s outlets were met, our technical team advised on installing an additional storage tank.

Results:

Once installed, the TankBoost 450L system resolved the low-pressure issues across the care home, providing a steady, high-performance water supply to all outlets, including those furthest from the TankBoost unit.
