Using AquaScan when Servicing an Unvented Cylinder or Recommending a Combination Boiler.

Product: AquaScan:  Digital Water Multimeter

Project: Servicing an Unvented Cylinder

Installer details: Ryan Mills Plumbing and Heating Professional

Date: December 2024

Project Background

Ryan Mills is a plumbing and heating professional based in Scotland. He frequently carries out annual servicing on unvented hot water cylinders. This includes essential testing for temperature control and measuring flow rates, which he now uses AquaScan for.

In addition, Ryan was able to use AquaScan to demonstrate flow rate information in a professional manner, when recommending a boiler to a potential customer.

Installer Feedback

Ryan’s feedback highlighted the benefits of using an AquaScan:

  • Clear readings and correct results – more accurate than a flow cup or temperature probe
  • Easy to use
  • Will fit onto any water outlet thanks to its vast number of different connections provided in the box
  • Beneficial when recommending combination boilers to customers to demonstrate flow rate information.

“One thing I have found very beneficial since having an AquaScan is the ability to deliver accurate readings on water supplies. I regularly carry out annual servicing on unvented hot water cylinders which involves testing of temperature control and flow rates, something that AquaScan can easily provide. I find using flow cups not overly accurate and AquaScan provides correct results.

I also recently went to quote a combination boiler installation. The customer had already been quoted a 38kw boiler which just wouldn’t work under an 8 litres per minute flow rate. I was able to show the customer this result quite clearly and advise on the correct sized boiler for the job.

AquaScan is  one of those pieces of kit that you wish you had years ago after getting your hands on one.”
