What Accessories To Consider When Installing TankBoost
TankBoost provides installers with a single solution to boosting mains water pressure and flow in homes and light-commercial buildings.
These all-in-one units combine a storage tank and integrated submersible pump, with simple ‘plug-and-play’ installation.
Did you know we offer a range of accessories to support a reliable and long-lasting installation too?
Here’s our guide to the accessories you should consider when installing TankBoost.
TankBoost fittings kit
To support installers with smooth installation and easy maintenance, we’ve built the TankBoost fittings kit, featuring all the accessories you might need.
Included in the kit is a 1″ to 28mm compression fitting to easily connect TankBoost to 28mm outlet pipework, and a drain-off cock allowing for quick and efficient tank drainage.
It also features full bore isolating valves to isolate the inlet supply, outlet feed and mains bypass. It is good plumbing practice to fit full bore isolating valves to the inlet and outlet pipework and a mains bypass with a full-bore isolating valve for maintenance.
The full 14-part kit includes:
- 1″ male to 28mm compression fitting
- 28mm full bore lever ball valve
- 22mm full bore lever ball valve
- 22mm to 15mm reducer set x3
- 28mm to 22mm reducer set x3
- Angled service valve 15mm x 1/2″
- 22mm to 15mm compression reducer
- 15mm drain off cock
- 1″ male to 22mm compression fitting
- Drain plug washer
Insulation jackets
As with any cold-water storage tank, TankBoost should be protected from temperature extremes. The water inside should not reach above 20° and the unit should be kept away from direct sunlight and protcted from frost.
To enhance thermal efficiency and ensure that water temperature is maintained effectively, we’ve developed insulation jackets for each unit – one jacket is suitable for 100L, 200L and 350L TankBoost units or additional storage units, with a separate product for the larger 450L unit or additional storage unit.
Catalytic water conditioners
Sometimes you will find that you are installing a water boosting solution, such as TankBoost, into a hard water area. This means the product is at risk of suffering from limescale build up and it is worth considering the installation of a water conditioner to help prevent this.
Unlike salt-based water softeners, Salamander Pumps catalytic water conditioners do not use ion exchange to remove the hardness minerals, nor do they add anything to the water. Our water conditioners utilise a non-sacrificial lead-free alloy core with a special surface. As water passes over the core, a catalytic reaction takes place to change the minerals’ form and ensure they don’t ‘stick’ to appliances, helping to protect against limescale buildup and maintain the lifespan of the appliances in the home.
We offer three products to suit all installations; single point (0-15 L/min), whole house (3-25 L/min) and whole house (24-54 L/min).
The single point water conditioner can be installed to the inlet feed of the TankBoost to treat the water going into the tank.
Don’t forget, AquaScan our 4-in-1 digital water multimeter can help demonstrate water hardness levels to a customer and make a case for the additional investment of a catalytic water conditioner.
Additional storage units
For some installations, the most important accessory of all is an additional TankBoost storage unit, providing any additional water storage required to meet the property’s demands.
If space is an issue, for example height restrictions in the loft space, you can link two (or more) shorter units together using the supplied linking kit for additional capacity.
We provide the linking kit free of charge with all additional storage units as part of our commitment to easy installation. You’ll just need to drill out the connection point at the front, which is left undrilled to avoid any potential leak paths, and clean the tank of any plastic swarf before filling it with water.
Other accessories
Don’t forget to browse our other accessories for installation and maintenance, including a replacement pressure vessel kit and the components featured in the fittings kit, if required individually.
